COVID-19 Updates<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMay 1, 2020<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
We write to you today with the unfortunate news that the 2020 Colorado Music Festival has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Having sustained hope throughout these past months that presenting the Festival would be possible, we now accept that we are unable to ensure the health and safety<\/a> of our beloved musicians, patrons, housing hosts, volunteers and staff \u2013 a responsibility we hold paramount.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n One of the most powerful aspects of the Festival is the personal connection between our audience and orchestra<\/a>, a bond developed over many years of remarkable artistry and appreciation. The staff<\/a> and board of directors<\/a> are all profoundly saddened by the loss of the Festival\u2019s exceptional 2020 live performance season. However, no group will suffer the impact of this decision more than our Festival musicians and seasonal staff who have already lost wages from their home orchestras and other cancelled performances.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n While you will certainly have the choice of a refund or credit on your ticket purchases, we ask you to consider supporting our Musician Fund<\/a> by donating the value of your 2020 ticket purchase back to the Colorado Music Festival. Through this donation, you help to provide our musicians with the critical income they need to be sustained through an uncertain future.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n If you are a 2020 ticket buyer, you will receive an email from the Chautauqua Box Office allowing you to choose how you would like us to process your tickets. Your options are:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n If you have not received a message, please click here<\/a> to let us know what you would like to do with your tickets.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Those who donate any portion of their ticket value towards the Musician Fund will be acknowledged in our 2021 concert program and will be invited to exclusive online events this summer featuring Colorado Music Festival musicians and guest artists. As of now, we are working towards the goal of opening the 2020 season as scheduled. We will continue to keep a close eye on updates from local authorities regarding public gatherings and will have a better understanding of the potential impact on concerts and events as we get closer to the summer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n I hope to be able to come together with you this summer in Boulder to celebrate our shared humanity through the power and love of music. Like me, many of you have undoubtedly made the decision to donate your ticket refunds. On behalf of the industry, I thank you for your kindness and consideration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n The Colorado Music\r\nFestival 2020 season is scheduled to open on June 25, over three months away.\r\nWe are not making any changes to our planned program at this time, but the Board of Directors and I\r\nare paying close attention to the situation and standing by to make appropriate\r\ndecisions if and when necessary.\u00a0The health and well-being of our patrons,\r\nstaff, musicians, and community is of primary importance to us.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Here\u2019s what you need to\r\nknow about the 2020 Colorado Music Festival:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n My\r\nsincere hope is that our Festival can serve as a much-needed respite from this large-scale\r\nsocial and cultural void, in which case we will celebrate our time together\r\neven more. Musicians are housed with local hosts or live in shared apartments. We did not believe we could ensure the health and safety of our musicians and hosts under these circumstances.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Many of you can imagine the challenges of social distancing from the audience perspective. While reducing the audience size to allowable numbers would not be a sustainable practice for the organization, there were other factors that outweighed our financial concerns:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n We look forward to safely returning to the Chautauqua Auditorium stage in 2021!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Ticket\r\nfees cover the cost of ticketing software, box office staff, and credit card\r\nfees, which have already been absorbed by our organization.
